When Danny and Abra meet in person for the first time, she asks him if they’re magic. He says, “I don’t know about magic. I’ve always called it the shining.”
We then see two more iconic recreations from Kubrick’s film. In the first, a young Danny rides his bike through the haunted hallways of the Overlook Hotel. In the second, the door to room 237 is opened by an unseen force.
In these scenes, we get our first glimpses of the True Knot, the nomadic villains of the feature. The blonde woman — who appears to be getting stalked here — is actually Snakebite Andi (Emily Alyn Lynd), a member of the cult who can make people fall asleep through the power of suggestion. The woman with the hat is called Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson), the group’s leader. Together, they all roam the land, feasting on the essence of those with the shining ability.
