You probably don’t need to watch the newly released Pacific Rim trailer below because by this point you already know if you want to see it or not. It’s a Guillermo del Toro movie about giant monsters fighting giant robots!
But if for some reason you’re not yet convinced that this is going to be all kinds of over the top explodey goodness go ahead and take 2:38 to watch the new trailer below. It originally premiered at WonderCon where it was meant to be an exclusive, but del Toro and friends have decided to share it with the online world anyway.
Check out the much loved Pacific Rim trailer from WonderCon below.
Oh my.
I still question the logic path that says “missiles and bombs don’t work so our next option is robot boxers,” but this looks insane. It also looks like del Toro essentially took a snapshot of a thirteen year old boy’s dreamscape and then filmed it. Had he waited a year there would be naked ladies piloting the robots…
The trailer fills in a little bit more of the story (but still doesn’t explain the need for two pilots acting in unison) and offers ups our first glimpse of more cast members including Charlie Day and Ron Perlman. The two join Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Clifton Collins Jr. and the eternally bland Charlie Hunnam.
Pacific Rim destroys a theater near you starting July 12th, 2013.
