Sundance Blog: Screenings, Screenings, Screenings

As we come to the midpoint of the Sundance Film Festival and its more sightings, more movies and a shit-ton of work.

With regard to time, I keep having one of two conflicting thoughts: “Wow, I can’t believe it is Tuesday already” and “Holy shit! It is still only Tuesday!” It is a an odd feeling, indeed. Today is day 6 for me of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, with 7 more to go. If you do the math right, that means tonight will mark the midpoint of the festival. Unlike a lot of the industry folk, I am here for the duration. I am excited as well, as I have seen some fantastic films.

It began with The Wackness on Friday, continued on Saturday with The Great Buck Howard, on Sunday with Be Kind Rewind and Smart People, and finally yesterday with Sunshine Cleaning and Incendiary. In fact, I was begin to worry that I was going to like anything and everything that Sundance could throw at me. Then I saw Downloading Nancy, and I felt better — because that one was an absolute waste of celluloid.

So to say the least, I have had a great time here in Park City. The now Oscar nominated Jason Reitman walked right by me yesterday as I was sitting at Festival HQ trying to get some work done in the evening. Quentin Tarantino blew off Peter and Alex for a photo, but they did find Rob from Cloverfield (see Peter’s blog here). I also got to hang with my good friend Vic from Screenrant. He shared with me the pain of Downloading Nancy. Ugh.

For today, it is more screenings! Thanks to my wonderful scheduling skills, Monday and Tuesday were my most packed days of movies. Here is the run down of the movies that I should (assuming that I actually see them all) be reviewing for you later:

– Towelhead
– Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?
– Henry Poole is Here
– Choke
– The Escapist

Stay tuned folks, we’ve got 7 more days of this!!

Keep an eye on our Sundance 2008 Homepage for more from Park City.
