Finally a news piece that is bound to shake up the stiff establishment of the film world. In a daring move, director Edgar Wright has announced that his forthcoming Scott Pilgrim vs The World will neither be shot nor released in the standard 3D, but in the revolutionary 2D format.

Via Twitter, the director released this startling statement:

In a groundbreaking release strategy, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World is to be released in 2D. Calm yourselves.

Will this stunt pay off? Does Wright expect to draw audiences into theaters with a gimmick? If it succeeds, might it change the world of movies as we know it? Are there special glasses we’ll need to wear to see it?

Stay tuned. We’ll keep an eye on this as it develops – we might be seeing a revolution in film.
