Baby Face Nelson Teams Up with Captain Jack Sparrow

The Pirates series has devolved from initially full of life and enjoyment to big, several hours-long blocks of drudgery, but there’s one thing the films have always done: hired fantastic actors.

That trend seems to be continuing as Aint It Cool is reporting that Stephen Graham is joining the cast as Captain Jack’s “sidekick.” I assume that means he’ll be playing the undead monkey.

Or, he’ll play this according to Variety:

He’ll portray Scram, a Machiavellian pirate in Disney’s fourth installment of the franchise in which Sparrow seeks out the fountain of youth.

Snatch fans will remember him as Tommy, and he worked with Depp previously as Baby Face Nelson in Public Enemies, but he turns in an absolutely, frustratingly strong performance in The Damned United.

Bottom line: the guy is great, and it’s good to see him join such a high profile film. For both him and for the movie.

In other Cool news, one of the AICN readers snapped a few shots of what looks like the new ship for the film. It’s impressive. Four doors, sort of a green/gun metal color, and it looks like it has power steering.

Check out AICN for the full sized versions.

In our last bit of news to report, the wash down will be in 15 minutes.
