An Independently-Made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie Exists and This Trailer for ‘Casey Jones’ Will Prove It

Wow. I love the age we live in and the things people do with their time and money. Someone somewhere thought it would be a solid idea to make a vigilante movie about Casey Jones from “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

That someone was Polaris Banks, that somewhere was Austin, and besides having an awesome comic book villain name, Banks has put together a movie that looks like it’s fun as hell.

I say looks, because this trailer doesn’t have any dialog in it. But it does have a bad ass in a hockey mask doing a lot of street sweeping. And, no lie, Casey Jones has a human-sized, mutated turtle kicking ass right alongside of him.

Watch this thing and revel in its glory:

Not bad, right? There’s a lot of nighttime shots which get a bit muddy with the lighting, and there’s no way to tell if the dialog is brilliant or terrible here, but holy hell. Someone made a movie about Casey Jones! What! Who does that?

That someone would even attempt this is wonderful (even though the rights issue here seems truly daunting). And, the fact that they got Robbie Rist to play Michelangelo again is even more insane. How do you call up the guy who played a talking turtle in the 90s and ask if he wants to get in a rubber suit again? How do you get him to say ‘Yes’?

That shot of Casey busting the teeth out of that hockey player’s mouth looked pretty sweet, too.

Anyway, you’ve got to hand it to this independent venture. As it turns out, Casey Jones is going to screen for free on Sunday August 14th, at 7:30pm, at Marchesa Hall in Austin. Please, someone go and report back.

What do you think?
