Arriving at an outdoor crime scene, we see that Abraham conceals herself with dark face paint in addition to the hood and mask. We hear an unknown man state, “I guess we have ourselves a reckoning.” With the Rorschachs on the hunt and their lie about to shatter, those in power are terrified and will have their top agents looking to squash the uprising by whatever means necessary.

Enter the mirror masked man a.k.a. Looking Glass a.k.a. Tim Blake Nelson. Where Rorschach’s persona challenged your perception, this man’s dress code forces you to look at yourself. The only person you have to blame for the hell we’re all living is you. Such an identity suggests quite an ego; whether that stems from the man behind the mask on the man controlling the man behind the mask, we don’t know — more on that in a moment.

Here we meet Jean Smart as Special Agent Blake investigating the contents of a briefcase. That name should raise an alarm as it also happens to be the handle of the comic book’s federal assassin Edward Blake a.k.a. The Comedian. His murder at the hands Adrian Veidt is what kicked off the original story. Could Smart play a sister? A widow? A daughter? Probably not a daughter unless the series takes place a little further in our future than initially believed.

The camera rushes over a swath of corpses, or at least unconscious citizens, littering a carnival. To successfully convince the world that aliens invaded our planet, Veidt attacked the populace with a psychic blast of energy. This assault rendered many mad and even killed some. Could this scene be a flashback to that event, or more likely, is this the result of a new strike against the American people? Are the Rorschachs capable of such action? Doubtful as their anger seems directed exclusively to city officials. Does the Looking Glass factor into this event? Hmmm. More than likely I think Veidt is up to his old tricks.

A kitchen alarm strikes. Dinner’s ready. Anybody in the mood for beans? Rorschach’s favorite dish. Hurm.
