Norah steps into an area of the laboratory that seems terraformed for the mer-monster’s environment. Many aquatic limbs hang from the ceiling, and one such arm dangles before her face winning a jump-scare. Are these her friends evolving into the mer-species, somewhat akin to the human-incubators we know from xenomorph Alien culture? Or is this the mer-monster equivalent of a meat locker?

An underwater explosion propels a poor soul to his doom. If you gotta go, this has got to be the better option considering the gnashing jaws of nearby mer-monsters and the possibility of biological mutation.

Norah survives her first encounter with the mer-monster and Henwick pulls her to the comfort of a dry deck. She’s gasping for air, and her brain must be attempting the metaphorical equivalent. The mer-monsters existence throws everything we know about our planetary dominance into whack.

The trailer concludes by sealing the fate of T.J. Miller’s Paul. A mer-monster goes for his ankle, and the funny guy screams, “It’s pulling me underwater!” Nice titular moment, sir.

Down Miller descends as a mer-monster screams in satisfaction. Some spoilers lend aid to the discerning audience member. Glug, glug, glug.
