Which side of the force will you choose?

The new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is here and it is everything we could’ve imagined. We’ve been waiting for the new trailer for some time, even if Mark Hamill gave up the date a few weeks ago. Similiar to the release of The Force Awakens, information on The Last Jedi has been scant, to say the least. Now finally we get some more information in the form of this latest trailer.

Rey (Daisy Ridley) is trying to find her purpose as she struggles to find her way with the Jedi. The way the trailer is cut it almost seems as though Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is offering his hand to guide her to the dark side. There also seems to be a much bigger story in place between Kylo Ren and his mother, General Leia (the late Carrie Fisher). In order to take his place as someone who has truly converted to the dark side, he must complete his task of killing both of his parents. Kylo Ren says, “Let the past die, kill it, if you have to. That’s the only way to become what you were meant to be.”Pretty dark stuff for sure.

There is also the dichotomy of the two different trailers. The first one focuses more on Rey and the light side of the force with a voice over from Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). This new trailer instead puts on a lot of the focus on Kylo Ren and features a voiceover from who we assume would be Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis).

There are also extended glimpses of everyone’s new favorite species, the Porgs. As well as old favorites like Chewbacca and BB-8. Yes, it looks as though Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaac) are in there as well. What we do know for certain is that fate is ultimately tied between Kylo Ren and Rey. Exactly how The Last Jedi will play out is anyone’s guess, but we can’t wait for December 15th, 2017. Just don’t tell Rian Johnson that you watched the trailer.
