This one came in just a couple of minutes before I was set to file, so it’s a brief write-up, but that’s okay because I personally guarantee you that today’s selection more than speaks for itself.
Technically it isn’t a short film, it’s a trailer edit from the mad geniuses at CineFix that imagines what multiple-Oscar nominee La La Land would look like if it was directed by David Lynch instead of Damien Chazelle.
Yeah. And man oh man, is it spot on.
In 90 seconds a whimsical, hopeful, and buoyant technicolor dream becomes a dark, twisted, confounding nightmare, turning La La Land into a kind of spiritual sequel to Mulholland Drive. I’ve said too much.
