Say My Name: A Montage of Title Drops

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Ah, the title drop. You know, when a character in a film actually speaks the title of the film. Think “It must be some kind of … hot tub time machine,” or “Gooood Morning, Vietnaaaaaam!” The title drop can either be a purposeful and well-integrated point of narrative or character development, or it can be a record-skip kind of moment that leaves you groaning.

In the latest montage from Roman Holiday, we’ve got some of both taken from 150 films – you read that right, 150 films – that can’t resist referencing themselves. Some of these references are seamless, some are glaring, and some are just plain hokey, but all do you the perhaps unnecessary favor of reminding you what you’re watching.
