Kylo Ren steps from his Tie Interceptor – huh? Where did the Tie Silencer go? He appears to have partnered up with The Emperor’s original brand. Making it work for him. Lightning cracks in the sky above and somewhere below those clouds is that fleet of classic Star Destroyers. We hear the Emperor begin to grumble, “Your journey…”

Kylo and Rey meet on the rubble of the Death Star (you can see the gun-turrets poking up on the left of the shot). As waters rage around them, they clash swords. The fighting is savage, and again, the environment keeps pace with the emotional tone of the scene. The screen fades to black, and The Emperor puts a button on a perceived triumph, “…nears its end.”

Gah!! Darth Rey stands before us! She’s cloaked in black. Her face is without emotion. Cold. Two red blades ignite into the frame. They have the same jagged ripple to them that Kylo has to his makeshift lightsaber. All hope is truly lost. The final chapter of the Skywalker Saga will be a grim celebration of defeat. Woe to the world. A great evil has won.

Flick. Rey’s swiss army lightsaber clicks into place, and she looks badass all of a sudden. Maybe Rey going Dark Side is not such a bad idea. They’ve got cookies after all. Lol. We’re watching a J.J. Abrams trailer. You can’t say his name without also uttering his “mystery box” philosophy. Rey going dark, even for a moment or two, seems deeply unlikely. This feels more like a Sith vision than anything else. It’s that Dagabah deal. Although, with The Emperor returning, and considering his passion for clones, there is a possibility that we’re looking at a Rey dopplegänger of some kind. It might be cool to see Rey go against herself, especially when her opponent is flipping that red nasty around. Whatever the answer, the final image of a Darth Rey is enough to make us antsy. The Holiday movie season can’t get here soon enough. We want in. We want the dark knowledge of this movie.
