Rambo has rigged some serious pyrotechnics along this property.
He’s back in the barn, looking much worse for wear, as he bleeds from multiple wounds. He is approaching a lone figure for what seems like a final confrontation.
A line from Rambo IV comes to mind…”When you’re pushed, killing’s as easy as breathing.”
The tone and aesthetic of this trailer are reminiscent of Logan, an R-rated, bloody send-off to another beloved action figure. Rambo also looks like he’s in pretty rough shape by the end of the trailer. Although Stallone has said that if the film succeeds, he would return for a Rambo VI (perhaps titled Rambo: Last Blood II?), could this film actually be a send-off to this iconic character?
The book that the first Rambo film was based on ended with his death, which was considered for the first film and even shot. But, the idea was eventually deemed unsatisfactory, and the theatrical ending was shot instead. Since everything about this trailer draws strong parallels to that first film, though, the possibility remains that this could be the end for John Rambo. Only time will tell if that’s really true.
John Rambo will be coming for blood in his fifth franchise installment, Rambo: Last Blood, on September 20th.
