‘Others Will Follow’ is Hopeful Sci-Fi At Its Best

By  · Published on October 20th, 2017

The moon landing was just the first step.

Andrew Finch’s sci-fi stunner takes all the wonder of the genre and compresses it into a tight, elegant story of generational aspiration. Space travel went to the moon, but Mars and others are next. Telling the stories of these future astronauts will be part of humanity’s larger legacy.

The moving film uses amazing practical and CGI effects to supplement creative camera moves, creating a meaningful visual language as earnest and heartfelt as the presidential speeches forming the sonic foundation of the film.

Tear-jerking and technically impressive, Others Will Follow is a killer effort from Finch and the kind of short film that gets snapped up as a proof-of-concept by a studio looking for a promising feature.
