New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Teaser Promises Drama, Accents, And Dinklage

As they like to remind us every year around Emmy time HBO is home to some kick-ass quality television. One of their more anticipated upcoming shows this year is a series adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s bestselling Game Of Thrones. The novel is the first of a series, so if HBO’s show does well they’ll have plenty of further tales to tell.

Game Of Thrones is set in a fantasy land, but it focuses more on the politics of kingdoms and mankind than on flying creatures, deadly curses, and goat-legged, scarf-wearing gentlemen. That doesn’t mean the world is absent of magic however as a dark force is apparently building beyond the borders of Westeros, and soon the usual trickery and deceitful machinations of the men and women who inhabit the land may no longer be each others greatest threat.

But you’ll get very little of that from this new teaser. Instead we hear ominous voiceovers and see some very stern-looking folks sitting on the throne. Are they angry because there are no magazines nearby or someone forgot to replace the toilet paper? Are they contemplating an epic live-action Archon tournament? Clearly I have no clue as I haven’t read the books. But with a cast that includes Sean Bean, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Mark Addy, and more I’m already sold and eagerly awaiting the show’s premiere.

Check it out the new teaser below.

Game Of Thrones premieres April 17th on HBO.
