We are back for another week of Lost. And as you know, there is no substitute for the Reject HQ Lost Club. Dr. Abaius and I are once again joined by the likes of Landon Palmer, David Gunn and Emily Younger to discuss the continuing madness that is season six of Lost.
Questions will be answered, they tell us. But what happens when those answers are followed with more questions? What happens when we follow Sawyer and Smokey Locke to Jacob’s coastal cave getaway and find not only his rock collection, but the names of “candidates” with corresponding numbers written on the wall? Well, we remain confused, to be honest. Although we do know this: there is some great game of good vs. evil, black vs. white going on here – and it involves Jacob and his nemesis.
But lets back things up for a moment. ‘The Subsitute’ changes gears from last week’s episode, putting the focus on the story of Smokey Locke (Terry O’Quinn), Ben Linus (Michael Emerson) and a reinvigorated Sawyer (Josh Holloway). I say reinvigorated because after drowning his post-Juliette sorrow in the bottom of a whiskey bottle, Sawyer emerges as the sarcastic hillbilly that he’s always been, a welcomed return to form. He then goes on a spirit walk with what he knows not to be John Locke, only to find out that he’s a candidate for something. A candidate for what, though?
