Once again, Ransom doesn’t appear to be taking any of this seriously. Either that, or he’s refusing to let his guard down.
In the Agatha Christie stories that inspired this movie, morphine is often used as a poison. This scene is a nice throwback to the murder mysteries of yesteryear and a fun nod to one of the genre’s most influential authors.
Just because the movie mostly takes place in a house doesn’t mean that there won’t be some action-packed thrills for our viewing pleasure. In this scene, the detectives drive a speeding vehicle, so perhaps we’ll see a car chase.
Benoit seems genuinely shocked and surprised by the information that Richard gives him in this scene. We don’t know what they’re talking about, but it’s another moment that makes us want to tune into this movie and find out what the heck is going on.
