Jason Statham Finds ‘Redemption’ As a Hummingbird Named Crazy Joe In New Trailer & Poster

Okay, Jason Statham doesn’t actually play a hummingbird in his new film, but his name is Joe. The confusion comes from the film’s constantly morphing identity over the past few months. It’s going by the name Hummingbird in the UK and Crazy Joe in France, but US distributors have chosen to go with the far more generic Redemption.

Check out the new trailer below.

It looks like pretty standard Statham fare, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Characters with a social conscience aren’t necessarily new for him as he tackled some issues in his recent film Safe too, and I can think of no better way to educate people than through bone-crunching action. Here’s the official synopsis.

Homeless and on the run from a military court martial, a damaged ex-special forces soldier navigating London’s criminal underworld seizes an opportunity to assume another man’s identity – transforming into an avenging angel in the process.”

Redemption opens June 28th, 2013.
