Marvel isn’t going away anytime soon.

Even though Kevin Feige made a point of saying the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t go on forever, it looks like it won’t be ending soon.

According to interview with Uproxx recently, Feige went on record as saying that Avengers: Infinity War and the untitled fourth Avengers movie will build to a climax for the series up to this point:

“Well, all I’ll say is the films we are working on now – which take us through to the Avengers Untitled in May of 19 – that’s really all we are focusing on. And we are focusing on bringing, by that point, an unprecedented, 22-movie, continuous shared fictional narrative to a conclusion in a satisfying way.”

This could mean the end for many series favorites and perhaps the end for many actors who’ve played the same characters for years on end. Let’s face it, there’s no way Robert Downey Jr. plays Iron Man forever. What this does mean is that the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t end anytime soon. Well, that is how director James Gunn explains it.

The Guardians of the Galaxy director thought that it was his duty to set the record straight. Which makes a lot of sense because Vol.3 won’t come out until after the end of Infinity War and set the stage for a whole new adventure. Whatever that may be, there probably aren’t many people who know where our heroes are headed next.

While Feige has not announced a whole slate of films like he did for Phase 3, it stands to reason that they are building a lot of new heroes like Black Panther and Captain Marvel to led the stories of Marvel superheroes into the future. Even though he hasn’t come forth with films announced until 2030, doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty in the works. There is little reason to believe that Disney would just stop making superhero films. Just look at how they are releasing a new Star Wars film every year.

Marvel is a cash cow for Disney and until that proves differently expect superhero movies to come out for the foreseeable future. Also, James Gunn’s Guardians Vol.3 will lead the way for whatever that vision entails.
