Shot by Shot with ‘The End of the F***ing World’ Season 2 Trailer

It's been two years since the premiere of the British cult classic, but fans don't have to wait much longer for answers about that notorious cliffhanger.

Someone waits outside of the café Alyssa works at. Is it Bonnie?

The person walks up to the diner, holding something behind their back. Could it be Alyssa’s veil?

Alyssa melancholically looks at her reflection through a heart-shaped mirror in a motel.

In a different outfit, Alyssa tries crossing a street but is blocked by a truck. Is she back on the run?

Bonnie is also seen through the trailer’s motif of mirrored reflections. She’s holding a piece of paper. Is it Alyssa’s photo or something else?

Outside, Alyssa walks tearfully into the darkness in her waitress uniform.

Ankle boots and colorful socks are rarely worn with wedding dresses, but Alyssa appears prepared for whatever may arise on her seemingly turbulent wedding day.

She anxiously stares over her shoulder with wide-eyes and a clenched jaw.

A bullet engraved with James’ name concludes the ominous trailer. Grief, depression, and violence seem to factor more heavily in Season 2 of the dark comedy.

This trailer suggests a new, refreshing tone will be taken by the cult classic in its second season. While Season 1 explores an absurd, hilarious, and almost fantastic world for our teenage protagonists, Season 2 appears to be firmly rooted in the bitter reality of Alyssa’s life without James.

That hopefully assures dubious fans who questioned the show’s need for a second season. While you can never tell too much from a trailer, the show’s direction seems just as confident as it did two years ago, and I’m eager to see where it takes these characters.
