More Claymation From ‘Wallace & Gromit’ Team in ‘Early Man’ Trailer

Stone and clay look A-OK for Early Man.

Aardman Animations has created some of the most striking and affecting animation about cheese in the history of moving clay. Their Wallace & Gromit series is as heartwarming and weird as their features Chicken Run and Shaun the Sheep Movie, which bodes well for their upcoming film Early Man which has a new and delightful trailer.

Cavemen have been historical buzzkills for too long, with writers unsure how to treat their predecessors. Should they be overly-simple family fares like The Croods or almost stoner-esque like Year One? Or, god forbid, they go the way of Encino Man. But Early Man‘s trailer seems to thread the needle by embracing the more historical elements of something like Life of Brian (or ahistorical elements, depending on the scope of the soccer plot) with the slapstick and charm of the best kids films.

Besides, bolstered by those big goofy teeth and screaming animals that are Aardman mainstays, the claymen look to be amusing no matter what pre-agricultural shenanigans they get up to when the film drops next year.
