The problem with Die Hard, as conveyed by Michael Scott, is that he used to be an everyman. Sure, he was a trained detective, but he was a lot like us – bloody, no shoes, trying to take out terrorists the best he could. In the last installment, he threw a car at a helicopter.
Thus, there is nowhere for the franchise to go but space.
We’ll see if that’s where screenwriter Skip Woods takes it, because according to the Risky Business Blog, he’s in discussions with Fox about writing another McClane adventure.
If not space, hopefully Woods will consider my 5 pitches for Die Hard 5 that I offered up free of charge when we first learned we’d see McClane again.
Woods wrote Hitman, co-wrote X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and we’ll get to see more of his work when A-Team drops a tank into theaters soon.
