Comedy Veteran David Mirkin Goes Sky Diving With Billionaire Richard Branson’s ‘Virginity’

Yes, he looks like the inspiration for Sabretooth, but Sir Richard Branson is worth more than the planet is. Seriously. If we tried to sell earth to another race of beings, they might be outbid by Branson.

The owner of all things Virgin (including that cell phone in your hand) has a knack for jumping out of airplanes (that he owns), and now David Mirkin’s deep comedy roots are going to dig their way into Branson’s virgin soil. According to Variety, Mirkin is set to make an adaptation of Branson’s memoirs “Losing My Virginity” his second feature film.

Mirkin wrote the screenplay for The Simpsons Movie (and has worked on the show for years), and he’ll be writing and directing the feature for Branson. Oddly enough, Branson himself was Simpsonized in the episode “Monty Can’t Buy Me Love.” It’s good to know the guy can take a joke.
