Charlize Theron Will Either Make ‘Alien’ Prequel a True ‘Paradise’ or Make Snow White’s Life a Living Hell

Charlize Theron hasn’t had a starring role in a major movie since Hancock, and even then she didn’t have just a massive amount of screen time. Not counting that, the last time she was front and center was Aeon Flux. To bring some perspective to the plate, Theron may very well be one of those actresses that’s incredibly famous, but hasn’t been in a great starring role for seven years.

Sidenote: Aeon Flux does not count as a great starring role.

However, it looks like the actress is kicking it into high gear, because her name is attached to all sorts of movies she can’t possibly do at once. She was in talks to appear in the J. Edgar Hoover biopic being made by one-take director Clint Eastwood, but she’s bowed out of that gracefully. Now, she’s only double booked.

On the one hand, there’s a starring role as the kick ass hero of the Alien prequel Paradise being set up by Ridley Scott. On the other, there’s an evil witch to be played for Snow White and the Huntsman. With Paradise rolling along, and Snow White eager to get into theaters before its Armegeddon-like competition from Relativity’s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, it’s difficult to see how the actress could do both.

Plus, coming off of filming Diablo Cody’s Young Adult, it really does look like Theron is back in the rhythm of making movies.

There’s a choice to be made, and the smart money is on Paradise because it’s a high profile science fiction flick with an iconic director that’s offering up a strong leading role.

On an interesting note, Theron might have been attached to more rumors and projects that failed to get off the ground than any other actor of the past few years. There was the Danny Boyle-directed remake of Sympathy for Lady Vengeance she was named for, the Mad Max prequel that will still probably shoot at the end of this year (maybe), there was the odd female version of T.E. Lawrence called Florence of Arabia, she dropped out of The Tourist to be replaced by Angelina Jolie, and she was even (just like all human beings) rumored to be in the The Dark Knight Rises.

That’s a lot of rumors and projects for one person.

Stay tuned, because her decision on whether to take the role of the alien fighter or the adorable young girl fighter will have to come soon. Or, you know, she might turn them both down to continue doing whatever she’s currently doing.

What role would you take?
