Cameron Crowe doesn’t make a lot of films, but when he does, the world leans forward and takes notice. He’s like the wizened grandfather of movies. Speaks softly, but carries a big schtick.
The wait for him to make a new movie is over, because the man has chosen to take on We Bought a Zoo – based on the memoir of Benjamin Mee.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the book “tells the true account of how Mee and his family used their life savings to buy a dilapidated zoo, replete with 200 exotic animals facing destruction, in the English countryside.”
For my money, there is no one like Crowe to take a strange bunch of characters doing something large and insane, and create them so realistically that we can see ourselves in each and every one of them.
Fortunately, we’ll get to see his latest in the Winter of 2011. Well done, Fox.
