In Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire, a seemingly simple plot – two gangs meeting for a gun sale engage in an epic shootout – is realized with beautiful complexity thanks to the expertly-choreographed extended action sequence that forms the second and third acts.

In these acts dozens upon dozens of shots are fired, and editor Harrison Edgecombe has plucked every single one of them from the 90-minute film and sewn them into the five-minute video below. Seen – or rather heard – together like this the gunplay develops its own rhythm not unlike a seizing heartbeat, creating another frazzled layer to an already frenetic film.
